Very nice. It’s a 1 taler silver coin of Johann Georg I, Elector of Saxony from 1611-1656. Your coin is from 1636. German States provincial coinage.

If genuine, in that lovely condition it would be a $300 plus coin, approaching $400 (what you might have to pay if buying from a dealer, not what you could expect to sell for), but beware that talers are among the most commonly faked coins. I don't see anything obvious which suggests its not authentic.

However, even if genuine, the solderwork detracts greatly from its desirability to a coin collector and couldn’t be easily removed without leaving a conspicuous mark. Worse still, there might be a hole nestling underneath that solder.

Great ID, though I agree that any damage (and there is significant holing damage on this one) will significantly cut down the numismatic value. Auction values among holed or ex-jewelry coins are often half that of a comparable undamaged coin.

Still a very interesting coin in its own right with a neat history.
