Re: Old Lighter?
I have one exactly like it and it is a cool little lighter. If I can find it Ill take a pic. You are missing some parts (the center striker) ....the small hole is for the wick. You need to pull the inside out to fill with lighter fluid.
Anybody know anything more about it?
I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines. I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

I am looking for mine now. When I moved I put it somewhere. I hope to find it to post because its an interesting little lighter. I dont even know what kinda metal it is. Sort of a galvanized steel maybe. I remember the same eagle. I dont remember any other marks. Thanks for searching.

Cheers, I think I have seen yet another 1,000 or so variations on a lighter and this is as far as I have got, so far, this is the closest that I can think of

here's a print:

They were around from the 1850's to the early 1900's when they got bought by a Brtish firm.

Re: Old Lighter with eagle stamp
Just received a note back from a web-site on vintage lighters www-vintagelighters.com. They said:
It was probably made during the 1930's by Presto of Canada. It is a common
design copied by other companies.

Bigcy, is there any chance of a pic of yours, please? I take it there are no other marks on either lighter?
Mike
I found my lighter. I guess it is aluminum because a magnet wont stick. It appears to have some kind of zinc coating. It is coming off in powder. Maybe that is just the aluminum corroding. The center striker piece missing on yours, Mike. It is completely ferrous and may have rusted away. It says MADE IN USA under the eagle. I wish we could ID.

Yea thanks Doc but I wish we had a link or pic to match. I have been searching Presto lighters and cannot find a match or anything even close to it. I cant find the eagle logo either, have you? It looks like a German eagle but its made in USA.

Big Cypress Hunter, here what I got. I am just taking their word for it. If you shoot them an email, maybe they have a link to something.
