    Possible Revolutionary relic?

I found this with a Garrett CX III at 14-16 inches. The site is a former depot/fort controlled by both sides during the Revolution. The pictures below are after HEAVY cleaning. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking the broken end of a turnbuckle.

My money would be on the hinge strap as well. Cool nonetheless! HH!

Just a guess. But could it be an old key hole cover...........for a pretty big key?

    Broken-off pot handle?
