    mystery thing~a~majig

Not even sure I have a guess on this. Maybe a padlock cover?

It seems the only broken spots are at the ends, or maybe just one of the ends.

    Is the design flowing fields?

    weird.

I don't think it is a padlock cover. I do see the spokes of a sun over cultivated fields. Also, due to the smooth edges around the inside of the sun it looks like it surrounded another piece, probably a different metal. IMHO.

You know, now that I look at where the broken sections are, how about a piece of a clock hand, kind of like the one below

My first thought as well. Looks like the center portion and if I recall correctly mine is stamped back there too.

That way up......Nevada/Arizona/etc desert scene. It's just missing Clint Eastwood and a few Apache. I'd say gun side plate too...although it's a little crude, but who knows?

Perhaps it is a gun side plate, and maybe very appropriate because it looks like a pleiseosaur to me. Perhaps a momento or commenoration of a late 18th cent. expedition to Loch Ness. Think about it.

that is very interesting, I was thinking the same thing when I first saw it (dinosaur part, not about the expedition).
