First of all let me apologize for not posting a picture, but couldn't get one that would really help in ID'ng.
Today I dug a plain wedding band marked inside with 14K followed by TW in a circle...weight is 3 grams. My question is...I understand TW to stand for "total weight" as in identifying total weight of gemstones in a jewelry piece...why would there be a TW stamp on a plain gold band?
I know acid test will be the final litmus test, but has anyone else found plain karat jewelry marked this way?
Another onliner responded in this manner to the same question: "The gold may be mined from China (which is very rich in Gold) and the jewelry has been made at any Taiwan ('TW') gold jewelry shop."
Don ....

I saw that answer on "Wiki-answers", but don't have a high degree of confidence in that source. Thanks.
it is the maker's brand mark.... just like other rings are stamped 'FG', 'ArtCarved', 'Keepsake', etc. etc..... but I don't know who that mark refers to

Its most likely 14K gold. The TW in a circle is a makers mark.
ADDED: I just noticed jewelerguy explained it very well.
