    Looking for information.

I would like to know if anyone can help me find information on this vase. Here is what I know about it from my mom. Her family bought it in the mid 30's at what she calls the Thief's Market in Mexico City. The only markings I can find are on the bottom, the numbers appear to be either 862 or 962. The middle number could possible be an 8, but it looks like a 6 to me.
Its height is approximately 15 3/4" x 7" at its widest point across the top.

Mostly I and my mom are curious if it has any distinction beyond an well designed, artistic vase.

(My apologies, this turns out to be just a piece of artwork. But I appreciate the feedback!)

    Thanks!

    Clayton

I ran the pics and info thru Tineye and Google images and no hits yet but sometimes they just need a tweak or two....I haven't seen anything close yet..but still searching...

    May be a one-off piece....

It looks like more of a pitcher/fuild vessel than a vase imo...you agree?

I concentrated so much on the bottom and the sides looking for markings that I completely missed the top being closed. Doh! I should add a photo of that. The top is the top of the bolt that screws the bottom together. So that should suggest this is just a decorative piece. Its beautiful but has no other useful purpose.

I have just looked at hundreds and couldnt find an exact match to date it.I did however note that they are often(correct or not)listed as lamp bases.Decorative ewer is my take on it and I like that one.

    cheers

Thanks for the feedback. I added a photo of the inner top. As suggested by topdogintampa it is likely just a one-off piece. But I will leave it up and see what other results can come up. Thanks for your efforts!
    Cheers!

I agree with bigfoot, the best matches I could come up with on Google images was searching for "victorian brass cast iron ewer bottle pitcher". A few came up that looked close but nothing quite like that one. No guarantees it is victorian but that popped in my head when I saw it and it seemed to provide better results in the search.

Thanks for the search. I did not even know what to call it to do that much for myself!
    Cheers!
