    Unusual marking on rock

I haven’t posted in a while, but figured you folks might offer some insight. I was in the woods along a creek in NE MA, and found this unusual marking on a granite boulder.

My initial suspicion is that it is a natural, if somewhat interesting wear pattern, but I took some pics regardless (not the best, taken with my cell phone).

There’s an early seventeenth century house nearby, and the remains of a mill somewhere in the woods in the vicinity, but this appears to have no relation to it.

There were no cultural materials visible in the immediate area, other than relatively modern (within the last 50 years) litter.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

IMO - looks natural, I'm not seeing markings

I'd have to say these look naturally formed as well... nice knife though!

That’s what I thought but up close and personal, the part under the blade was vaguely reminiscent of tail feathers, so I thought I’d get some opinions here. Natural it is. Thanks guys.

Antiquarian, I love that knife. That knife, a Swiss Army knife or multitool, a saw or hatchet, something to light a fire with, and water go with me into the woods all the time.
