Looking for ID on a 2 piece button...

Not my find, just trying to help another detectorist from a group I'm in....

This was found near Sparrows Point / Baltimore area. I think it's DAT? but I can't remember how to tell what order the letters go in. The finder would really like to know what he's got, so I offered to post here where I'm pretty sure someone will know

    I'd say "T.A.D."
The "T" seems to be laced thru the other letters
Here is a good military buttons website....
Stars on back, I'd bet it is military.....

I think it's got to be a D in the center, otherwise the other 2 letters are upside down

I see what you are saying. If I am seeing it right it looks like the T is on top of the D and the D is on top of the A. So TDA?

2 more long shots: 1) Is/was there an organization in the area where it was found whose initials are some combination of the 3 letters? 2) Does the 10 stars arranged in a circle on the back point to a particular button manufacturer? If so, and there is a book/website of their examples, you might find it there.

I was thinking T. D. Academy or something? but I couldn't find anything like it with a pic of an old button
