Buckles/Slides and Strange Log Cabin Thingy

    Hello Folks,

I recently discovered a promising old house site in the woods that most likely dates from the mid-1700s and was knocked down in the early 1900s. In my limited amount of time there so far I've already found some interesting things, including these items, which I could really use some info on.

The buckles/sliders are some kind of copper/bronze alloy (still with gilding visible). There's also this odd little square applique or token or something with a neat little engraving of a log cabin. All the items appear pretty old. I'd love to get some potential dates.

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    B

You can see the buckle looking thing was once a brooch (pin)

Top-left item is a faux buckle for a sash. Some slide on; others attach with a pin. When in place, the two pieces in the center appear to be buckle tines piercing the fabric.

The log cabin piece is a political pin from the 1840 presidential campaign of the Whig "Log Cabin and Hard Cider" candidate, William Henry Harrison. Some of these had a glass inset and color enameling— sort of like a miniature framed picture— although I don't think this one did. Don't know about the value of yours, but "book price" (Hake's) for a nice, nonexcavated example is $500. Compare it to the one shown on the upper left at:

Wow!!! Thanks so much for the info!!! That is amazingly cool.

I loved the Harrison pin from the minute I dug it, (especially since the thing is so small, and I found it in an open field -- what are the odds?) and now I'm truly blown away.

You've just made my night! Thanks again!
