I need some help with dating this key
I found this a while ago in an old dump site near my house and i recently decided to clean it up with my Andreas Pencils. When I did, I noticed it had some writing on it. I cleaned it up some more and the writing turned out to say “ Sargent & Greenleaf (maybe says Co)
Rochester N.Y. U.S.A.
I know that that Sargent and greenleaf worked in Rochester from like 1868 or something like that to 1975 so a big window there. The design is also common of the company’s keys. Any help with this is appreciated and thank you for looking!

 "Is that a Geiger Counter?"
An image would really help. Here's some history. If you can find out when they first became "Incorporated" and started using "INC." instead of the earlier "CO." that would narrow it down a little.

Political correctness is facism pretending to be manners -- George Carlin. Need the names of good men and heroes to say? Say the names of M. Sgt Gordon and 1st Sgt Shugart.

they partnered in 1865. the key matches the style of the padlock 135 key (see their page 54) and also a sub-treasury lock (see their pages 78-79).
https://www.lockreference.com/wp-con...arly-1900s.pdf
key matches that from a chest lock (their page 75)
their lock brochures do not state manufacture dates but the (last link) brochure & price list are from 1917 so the key is at least that old.
