Location found: Duluth, Minnesota

Hi there! Brand new to the group but found you while trying to learn more about a button in found in the ground outside of our home in NW Minnesota. Any help identifying this buttons origins would be highly appreciated.

Bison bison or Bos Taurus (cow)? Found on a river gravel bar in Sothern Minnesota. Sediments in the area range from cretaceous to holocoen with a good amount of Wisconsin lobe glacial till. Previously we have found other bison (long bones and teeth), elk, bear, mammoth, and ancient horse...

These were found together in an old shop on my grandparent's farm. Is the one without the haft grove an actual maul/artifact or not? The only reason I suspect it may be is it does show some wear on the rounded end. These are the only photos I have.

Possible Native American maul (left photo)? The only reason I ask is it was found in a collection with other 'actual' mauls that have grooves for hafting. Also, it does seem to have some tip wear. This is the only photo I have...
