Got permission to search the yard around a house built in the late 1700's with an addition built in 1830. On the first day hunt with my MXT Pro and 10" DD coil I dug a toasty 1845 LC, a 1938 quarter and a 1" diameter canister shot. On a return trip yesterday I dug a bullet, buckle and a drawer pull escutcheon. Oddly I didn't dig any flat buttons which usually turn up at sites like this, but I'm not done there yet. I would appreciate some help with an ID and/or caliber of the bullet which measures about 1" long and is 5/8" in diameter at the base. There is a gouge in it but it does not have any rings so I am assuming pre Minnie? Also looking to find out what kind of buckle this is and if it's pre 1800. Thanks for looking and thanks for your help. 035.JPG 031.JPG 032.JPG

I think it looks like part of a rifle sling buckle.

Thanks for the suggestion Terry. That at least gives me an area to research along with Joey's suggestion above.
