1917 WALKING LIBERTY HALF DOLLAR

Found this coin out in the middle of the woods. No other targets anywhere around not even trash. It was a solid 90 on the ATPRO from every direction, it was 3 inches deep. I have no idea why this coin was where it was, no houses, no roads anywhere around. Your next question should be if nothing was around why was I detecting that spot. The reason I was detecting that area is because it was the only high/good ground in the area and looked like a good location to set up camp for troops passing by the area. I didn't find the Civil War Camp I was looking for but I did find my first Silver Half.

E Pluribus Unum

Thanks for looking

I found some really old tree stumps. Looked like the trees my have been cut by hand. Could have come from loggers?

That's a really good theory. That's our goal, eh? Find where the people WERE. Great looking silver. Congrats and happy hunting!

Sweet walker!! In My unprofessional opinion, that has got to be the most beautifully designed coin ever minted...anywhere! Great score and on my wish list as well.

I got so excited I had to set down for a minute to take it all in. I really had to evaluate if what I was seeing was real and what had just happened really happened. I'm still amazed by the randomness of the find. Pure luck really.

Here is a link to which ever one you found, 1917 is a pretty cool date for that beautiful coin. If I had found it I would want to know which one it was. I can't tell from your pix.
Congrats on one of the coolest designs in US coins (one of my favorites anyhow)
