Got out yesterday and a little today with my brother (novatreasure), and we hit up a field that was a Confederate camp. Found a variety of relics including a pulled 3 ringer, piece of a spur, round musket ball, knapsack rivets, knapsack hook, a forend cap off civil war rifle, a heart-shaped clasp or prong that appears to have a design on it, but I'm gonna have to a closer look at it, and believe there to be more waiting on us. Look for novatreasure's thread as he will have more of our hunt posted. Can't wait for us to find a really nice button or maybe even a plate or buckle.

***We have found loads of melted lead and I know I have seen were soldiers have carved and worked with the lead to look like objects such as acorns and even animals. The piece I have pictured looks a lot like a coyote or dog's head to me. Maybe I'm just using my wild imagination but if you could see it in person it looks even more like it***:tongue3:

3rd. picture down on the left and 2nd down on right looks like the metal piece that fits on a musket forearm. Looks like the piece on the forearm between the barrel and where the ram rod goes in. rifle.png

Nevermind I see you listed it. That was a case of WOW look at the pics before you read.:BangHead:

Thanks ronr. We suspected that but wasn't for sure.:icon_scratch: It looks to be bent back just a hair which is understandable. Still not sure as to whether this camp was Confederate or Union? With considering where it is amongst other things, I would think it is Confederate. Googling many images of CW buckle prongs they can be pretty similar from either side. Hopefully that heavy buckle didn't hold too good with the remaining two prongs and he left me a prize in the field :laughing7::laughing7:

You done Great, I really like the nose cap and the attachment hook , you know after that soldier broke that he didn't lose the plate until he got where I was swinging ,right? I will show you the plate our next outing ,lol. That scrap lead can take on many shapes and figures, we may get lucky yet and find a carved bullet.

Great Finds, Bill
