I didn't have much time to hunt so I went to a place where I had found a few bullets a while back. I decided to hunt a field I had largely avoided so as not to disturb the property owners cattle. After wandering around aimlessly for about an hour not hearing much beyond the occasional nail I heard a week chirp and slowed down to double check it. I was a week signal and sounded deep but I know the history so I decided to check just in case. Much to my surprise it was indeed a civil war bullet, but not just any old bullet, this one had an extra piece on the bottom. Then I started going REALLY slow and found what looks like a weird cut bullet, and what I think is a fired small pistol bullet. I still need to find my calipers but I believe it's a .52 or .54 caliber Sharps tie-ring base (aka Sharps Ringtail)
It's been a long time since I found a civil war bullet so this was a very nice start to the year for me. I hope everyone else is off to a good start too.
