As of 11:30pm, Sunday, Interstate 81 remains closed after a multi-vehicle crash earlier in the evening.
The crash occurred just before 10:00pm, on Interstate 81 northbound just north of the High Ridge Exit and involved an overturned Fed Ex tractor trailer and several other vehicles including a passenger vehicle and at least one other tractor trailer.
The pileup blocked both northbound lanes. The interstate was shut down at the Minersville Exit.
Early reports were only one person sustained injuries in the crash and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Interstate 81 northbound is closed from the Minersville exit to the Frackville exit.
Around 11:30pm, all fire units cleared the scene except for Minersville Fire Police handling traffic being detoured off the Interstate.
PennDOT and State Police remain at the scene while the cleanup takes place.
