Any ideas? Voodoo? African? Leather doll

Any ideas? Approximately 7 inches tall. It appears to be hand stitched and made of some type of leather/hide. Thanks as always!

Round it at an unorganized estate sale in north texas. The house was probably built in the 20's and very small.

Just lately I heard of how there was a large black population in prisons in Texas used as virtual slave labor back then. All the voodoo dolls I saw were crude.
I bet you have a home made doll there which some might find valuable. If you could research the previous owners it might help. I bet if it is very old you could get a nice price for it. Try searching for African American folk dolls maybe? I like it lol

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

It’s Moroccan folk art, sold to tourists. The figure is a ‘water-man’ or ‘water-seller’, hence the leather waterskin on his back and the brass cups on the chain round his neck. The remarkably clean white of the robes suggests it’s modern. Probably no older than the 1970s and likely more recent than that. They still sell them today. This one is signed ‘MUSSA’ on the robes at the back:
