I live in Empire a few miles east of modesto,ca and am new to gold panning an such.I have done research of the area to find a few locations that had produced gold. In the 80's a claim was closed about 3 miles from me and then a few more miles and there is a current claim stated as tailings and then about 20+/- miles upstream is the waterford dredge fields, I was hoping to find gold here near were i live if anyone has any info for the area or personal experiences they have had id love to hear it.

I haven't tried the lower portion of the river. I have panned the river near Tuolumne city. I did find some gold, but nothing to brag about.
