Well dad and I decided to get back out for another couple of hours this morning and it did not disappoint. At first it was a bit slow, but then I dug a small cuff button and immediately afterwards dug a nice foliated "R A" button which stands for Regiment of Artillerists. This was actually the first button of this kind (1811-1813) which is why it does not bare a regimental number below (meaning it is the first and only regiment). It is a fairly uncommon button and one that I am glad to bring home.

Other than that, I dug 5 other buttons (six total) with two being silver washed ones. It was a quick hunt, but also managed to find part of an early and flattened powder flask and yes...two more brass nails.

This will be it for me for 2015 and it looked to go out on a high note!

Another nice and seldom-seen military button to add to your collection Dan. Looks like that was quite a productive site for you guys, although I know you were wanting to bring home an early silver coin. But I guess you're saving that for the next time we get out ... ha!

Hey man, I will take this one over silver, especially considering the shale it came in. Looking forward to getting back to our spots and dad is happy to know that he will have a new spot for a little while. The next ridge will likely contain the main site. I just wish o had more time to explore for pits as they absolutely are there.
