Hello All,
Well, we got a free day to go out and do some digging, so we battled the heat and hit the cane fields! Was a slim day, and the early highlight was a large gilded button which I mistakenly thought was 19th c. (turned out to be early 20th)
Later on, around the 4 hour mark I got a little tee-tiny piece of redemption with a thin, silver, Catholic medal.
Then a couple Indian Head cents made their way into Shangalang's finds, along with a rather nice Beefalo.
Then I got what I think is a wax fob seal (no stone) made of pewter!
We rounded the next row and I hit silver, flipping out an 1839-O Seated Half Dime
Shangalang was flipping out over what I flipped out, then I think he flipped me off most likely but I wasn't paying any attention just doing my happy dance.
But he had the last word when he yelled that he had a silver, too! I was SHOCKED when I came over to see--and it was a CAPPED poking out of the clod!!!
It was an 1834 Capped Bust Half Dime! His third capped ever, putting him even up with me in the Capped department! New Orleans Silver seems like it's everywhere down here, but we only dig one Capped Bust coin per year as a team down here. Those Philly coins were slow to make their way to the South of South!
