Anyone know of any caves in South Carolina?
We don't have limestone. We really don't have any natural caves. Any you may find are likely gold or isinglass mines. These are especially dangerous and will collapse if you are not very careful. They are usually not worth the risk. I've only found one that was somewhat safe to explore. It is now blocked.
There is, Caves of South Carolina. I'm mentioned in the Preface.Supposedly there are actually some there. There's even a book on the subject, but I've got no link to it!
WHAT about SNAKES ?NOTE ;
It is getting colder & bears may hibernate in those caves !
Most all are harmless , but upstate S.C. has Timber Rattlers & Copperheads. I don't know of any other poisonous ones in that region & I lived there for 50 years.WHAT about SNAKES ?
