Took the new 17 coil for the CTX 3030 out for a spin today. It is a "bit" heavy, but you sure don't feel like you are missing any ground with this thing. Location is a 1790 home (pretty rare down here), where my son found a 1762 1/4 Reale last summer, and we've found a couple of large cents and buttons. Signal was 12/15 up to 12/40, about 5 inches deep. The item is brass or bronze (?), about 1/3 bigger than a quarter, and is bent, but has a large raised star and two oblong holes in the middle.....I have no idea, any help appreciated, thanks!

It's a star concho, could be off of anything from a saddle to a gun belt.... I don't know a lot about them or if there is any way to reliably date them.
