Cool old copper ring help id?

Hey all, maybe someone can help? I found this copper ring this past weekend behind an1800's church. It is copper and has two red stones for eyes and it looks like a cut glass diamond in its mouth. I put it next to a quarter for scale two show it is a large size so possibly a mans ring. Did a lion symbolize anything? I don't think its a child's ring but I don't know. Any suggestions or thought would be great.

I have seen many lion rings over the years, I bet this was gold plated at one time.

cracker jacks used to have copper rings back in the day,i found a buster brown copper ring ..
