the past two days have been great.
all together i dug....
5 Gardiners
2 round balls
3 flat buttons
1 1861 Indian head and another large cent(that is toast).
I also dug the large piece of brass at the top. at one time i guess it was round.
any ideas what it is??
You can't go wrong when you dig 2 of my favorite things : old lead and flat buttons with a couple of greenies thrown in for good measure. Hope the new year is good to you.
I very fortunate to have this place to hunt. it is very rich with history.
the mill was built in the 1730's. the large house was built in the 1850's.
most of these relics came from the mill race. they drained it last summer and (unfortunately for me)
cleaned it out .
one load of dirt was taken to the local high school. when the truck dumped the load a bayonet was recovered.
there is still a huge pile of the dirt on the property. but it is piled so high and is so steep that it is extremely
hard to go over. hopefully i will be able to go through it as they spread it out.
