I dug up this stirrup in North Louisiana and was wondering if it is from the civil war

Can you tell if it has been welded together or blacksmithed together, looks older than modern date.

It is made of brass and no repairs have been made to it. I see where a punch was used to make grips
and appears to have been done by hand.

Can you see "filing marks" on it where excess brass was filed away after it was cast?

Is it marked in any way?

dugit, is that brass? Just joined this forum very recently. A friend has one of these and it came from a cane field in South Louisiana. Is yours made of brass?
