The boy and I made a trip back to our latest permission where I found the Draped Bust.
My very first hit of the evening was a 84 on the Pro, flipped a plug and had a 1945-P war nickel? My only other finds were some wheats, a toasted brass religious pendant and a big ole toasted flat button, no shank. The old flat button was about the size of a quarter.
The boy finds an old lock, a couple older dog tags attached together 1954 and 1955 and some mystery brass piece.
Had to leave in a hurry when a downpour came through with thunder and lightning.

Thanks for posting pics ( front and back ) of your war nick. I think I might recognize one now that I have studied yours. Good finds DS.
Not to give away a secret or anything but im glad as well ,because as of yet one of those sneaky war nickels has eluded me as well . So mabey you and I should start a non war nickel finding club . As many nickels as I have dug the last two years you figure at least one would be a war nickel, but nope guess not
