It all started with my wife caught me looking out the window longingly. She said "just go!". So I went. It was dark, about 8:15. I was planning on going to one of my old spots but spotted a neighbor outside. He'd let me search his property once before, the site of a colonial home and road, but said he didn't want it to be more than once. Last time I found a toasted but identifiable 1803 LC. So I went and started chatting him up. Asked sine I knew he was a few beers in, and said come-on!

So I did. Knowing the targets were shallow, I dug everything 2" and deeper. Good thing. Got a lot of clad and quarters, but also scored a Halfie at 2"! Rang up at 12-45/46

I have a few pics but the last one is the only pic that you can identify the coin. It's soaking right now but should be ready soon. I think I'll be able to pull a daw then ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1431602009.859783.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1431602025.354934.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1431602042.735241.jpg
Happy hunting!

Can't control the condition bud. But if you hit a silver with that date you'll be in business. Just a matter of time

Congrats on the half cent. They certainly don't turn up every day.

Definitely can't help the condition. I consider myself lucky I be able to ID it. I've found a lot of LC's but only a couple Half cents.

Man those little boogers are hard to find Srcappy. I remember digging a couple many years ago, then went at least 10 years before digging another in 2014. For some reason they just don't show up much around here, kind of like bust silver. Congrats on your 2nd!

She said "just go". I said "ok". Then she said "but don't you want to hang out with me?". Not sure what I said next to talk my way outta that trap but I did.
I was joking with George the other day on the phone about wives and coins. When he showed his wife the his soon-to-not-be 1793, she just asked what it's worth. I showed mine this coin and she said the exact thing, "oh that's nice honey. What's it worth":)

I always say "about $3" lol

I just noticed the cleanup. It's a big improvement already.

The fact that you were able to get a date from a 215 year old coin in the dirt is nothing short of a miracle.

I also noticed that even "bad" ones are still worth a few bucks as long as you can read the date.
