I found this piece of Sterling Silver for $2 in a junk box, it is marked 1681 with an anchor marking indicating its from Birmingham

I agree, we need to see the hallmarks. I don't know what I was thinking when I replied to this yesterday. I thought he meant it dated to 1681. That sounds like a pattern number if it's stamped literally "1681". Gorham used an anchor mark similar to an English hallmark but the 1681 doesn't correspond with the Gorham pattern of the same number.Can I see the hallmark?
