Congratulations on your silver.
Silver content might one reason for its appearance.
Another is environmental factors.
I've dug up silver in England that have had the same colour patina, but much thicker. It can be safely removed by soaking it in a warm solution of lemon juice, olive oil, and another ingredient that escapes me at the moment.

Took over a half dozen half’s over the years to finally get a larger denomination. A 1878/9? 2-Reale. It’s got a bad silver content, might actually be Spanish.
