I found this flat button along side some Civil War artifacts. Could this flat button come from a CW soldiers uniform or just a civilian flat button? Any ideas? image.jpg image.jpg

Nice 1750's-1790's civilian tombac button, I just found one today, and another one yesterday. They clean up nice. Also, It's amazing you found one with the shank, and not broken anywhere, most of the ones I found are missing their shank, and may be broken, in fact the one I found yesterday had a small piece of the button missing and a broken shank, and the one I found today had it's shank completely ripped off. So far I have only found one in complete condition, and it's a big thick tombac button with an etched design, very different than most of the ones I see. The rest of mine are damaged in one way or another.
