I was taking out the trash when I noticed a cardboard cake platter that was gold leafed. So I peeled off the top layer (still had some cardboard on the back of it) and folded it a couple times so the gold is hidden inside and then rolled it up and held it with a rubber band. It looks very much like a fat cigar butt. A couple things I like about it, it was free and no worries about stepping on it and damaging it (yeah, done that), but the main one is it is so camo'ed it blends in with the leaves in my yard. Just makes it really hard to accidentally spot. Gives a good signal, too.

I hate to break up your golden idea, but that ain't gold leaf! It's tin that is colored gold. Bet the detector really sounds off on it too

Okay, gold laminated.

I looked at some ads and some say gold colored others gold laminated. Obviously this one has gold in it because my locator hits it.

Thanks for pointing that out. The one I have looks exactly like gold leaf and I could not scrape it off with a knife blade.
