Happy Easter Diggers!
I had the opportunity to detect with a new digging friend yesterday in Pennsylvania, just across the PA border from MD, a Federal Yankee camp or picket post that was part of the Gettysburg Campaign of 1863. This place almost 55 plus acres has never been touched hunted before per my friend. We only hunted half a day and will be coming back in the fall when cooler weather prevails but what a day it was.
We both found the typical bullets; dropped .58s, round balls, and one dropped .54 sharps. I scored a nice perfect General Service Jacket button with shank still intact, my partner dug a perfect solid case I button in perfect condition. Two first for me; my first Yankee Eagle Breast Plate and a CW period seated dime - 1860. Could not believe I would dig thee two bucket list items in one day! Stuff is out there, but you need to take your time swinging the coil and digging those iffy signals. The jacket button was a one way signal and when I re-scanned the hole, the target was like 1 inch down. Happy Hunting.
