I usually do wear shorts, as the bees are usually docile once they get smoked down....
But (Sunday) we moved the hive about 4 feet from where it was.... they were pissed, knew they would be.
My wife usually removes the lid, and checks the frames about once a month.... no suit at all.
Lucky you! I'd love to bee keep for that good ole' raw honey, the pollen, royal jelly, the wax, and every benefit in between! I love me a good chunk of honey comb to chew on. My ole' lady and I are avid daily takers of bee pollen. Raw honey goes into my steel cut oats. Lots of folks don't know about honey being the only food known to man that won't spoil. Too bad about that bacteria that's threatening their (which could ultimately be our) survival!
Ya know I've never looked into the relationship of bees and man. Wow! it goes back to the dawn of civilization some 15'000 years ago. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beekeeping
My wife and I together only know a fraction of what there is to learn about this dynamic hobby.
Bees are so freakin fascinating.... so happy to do our part here in our own back yard.
