heading to Durham NC

I'm going to be in Durham for three weeks. Thinking about going to the shore. Any suggestions or no-no's. Any places right around Durham to detect or where not to for safety reasons.

I sure hope you believe in COVID-19 and wear a mask when you go into buildings with lots of people when here in NC, especially Durham. Besides, our control freak gubner demands it too.
I'm not sure about what their rules may be on metal detecting there, but if it is anything like what I'm dealing with locally in the middle of the state they look at metal detecting as some sort of disease. Most schools outright ban it, and municipalities also take similar steps concerning parks and rec areas. It's getting worse even if you have permission to hunt a school. I've lost access to one recently due to as the cop told "fighting and stuff" by local thugs and hoodlums on school property. Not anything I did, but the acts of hoodlum morons can really hurt everything.
