Hi all, thrilled to have found this forum! Moved out here for work last fall and am definitely a convert so far. Have always been a rock hound and science geek in general - growing up in downstate NY, I always wished I could go mining/panning/prospecting of any sort but the environment wasn't exactly conducive to such activities. So I've always had the bug...but then my wife bought me some commercial paydirt and a pan, and you guys know the rest....

Looking forward to going out for real once I get a better handle on where exactly I can go for a first outing within a reasonable distance of the SFV!
