It's been awhile since HillBilly has been able to get out and do some Detecting, but we was able to get out one last time before the New Year and We decided to end the Year Searching the Civil War Camp. It was very cold but sunny and ended in a pretty good day with a good display of bullets, knapsack hooks, one Lantern adjuster bent into the shape of a knapsack hook?, triangles, a couple of buttons "one being a part of a eagle button", part of a scabbard tip, rivets, sling hook, Musket nose cap (third found so far) ,quite a few iron relics, and a pile of camp Lead.
First pic of finds are "Lifes a Garden Dig it", second pic are "HillBilly's" and third pic are mine.

We Hope Everyone has a Safe and Great New Year, Bill

You all made some nice finds. I hope you save some Ky relics for when I get to hunt there again. Happy New Year to my home state hunters!

Thanks, LOL, It's been nice to be able to find a site that hasn't been pounded to death, We just got permission to scout another site so hopefully the finds will continue into the New Year. I hope you have a Great New Year

I have read a couple times now about the effort to make Mill Springs a national park. I am sure that will have positive effects for the area, but I wonder what it will do to detecting in the surrounding area?

As with all CW sites you need to get it while the getting is good. More and more sites are becoming "historic landmarks" and thus off limits. Nice you were able to recover some nice finds.

Yea I took a break from the net, other than the last few weeks I haven't hunted

much in the last year or so. I did find a Union general service button a few

weeks ago with Armstrong, he found a nice KY State Seal button with a small

punch in it , I thought he was going to have a heart attack, he sent it off to Leonard Short.

A few months back Weaver found a Barber half. That's about it for us.

I do plan on getting my ass out more. We will have to get out one day.

HB, that's a nice relic hiding in there--the brass nose cap from a gun! Would love to see a closer photo of that one. Surprised it wasn't mentioned in the post.

Congrats, All!

LOL, the Musket Nose cap is mentioned in the post, it's the third one we found at this site. I'M surprised we haven't found a plate yet.
