Millions of old settlement sites and ghost towns are now just vacant farm field. When a farmer plows a field it can bring lost items right up to the surface.

Mine gets turned over every year, it's like a time machine, bringing the goods almost right to the surface

I really like those cut coins, they're unique. Probably a type of kg:thumbsup: I found one last year. I think I'm going to drill a hole through the top and put it on a chain. Nice finds!

Just wondering, are you hunting in a cornfield in Mass? Not sure what part of the state you are in but I still have 2 feet snow in my back yard. I'm jealous!

I wrote an article titled "Hunting farm fields forever" because I stop by fields from the 1600s -1700s (some I hit in the 1980s) that have been hammered to death by a lot of TH'ers over the yrs - and now and then will still get a few nice items every spring they turn them over
Keep at them
