These were found since my last post, the 1875 Indian head and the Tombac button were found in Jamestown Rhode Island. The button was found in a place that was definitely inhabited by British soldiers during the Revolutionary war. Without question this place was occupied. It's between the size of a nickel and a quarter. The dandy button was found at a place in Massachusetts that I found other flat buttons from but not this large. The other Indian heads and Mercury dime were found at another old Park I've been recently visiting. Luckily even though it's been cold as hell the ground under the leaves is not frozen solid yet. The 1888 Indian was in really good shape and cleaned up very easily. The 1902 unfortunately was very difficult to clean. I also had a pocket knife that was found in Jamestown right next to the 1875 Indian head penny. Hopefully this year a US large central not elude me once again.. I was using the tejon

it amazes me on how much the soil affects the condition of the item found, great recoveries

Excellent saves, all!

But, ya know, I wish I had a silver nickel for every time someone tells me they've found a new and better way to discriminate between a "good" & "bad" signal.
As long as people make the decision to not dig "bad" signals, I know I'll have "good" stuff to find. ;)

I still dig the trash but you have to learn to tell the difference, I like to guess everything I dig first, I will dig almost all junk depending on time and location. What I consider trash is the obvious beer can or very large metal objects. I have a vast collection of pull tabs and bottle caps..lol okay I really don't keep them but I'm hoping one of these days I'll find a real gold ring or gold coin if I keep digging the stupid pull tabs.
