Is this is a marble?

My son found this when we were looking for arrowheads in Kentucky. I didn't know there was a marble forum here so I thought I'd post it and see if there was any additional information you guys might have. It's just a hair under 1" in diameter, like 15/16". I think it's a high grade porcelain. Found it on a site that was bulldozed in the '60's and probably occupied for ~100 years before that.

Any info is appreciated. Really trying to figure out how old it is. Or if it is really a marble.

Could be a marble but there were other uses for this type of thing too. Like check valves in pumps and other things. Nice finds!

it's funny, I was digging a site a few years ago, and digging all these white marbles, til I started digging hutchinson bottle necks with the ball in the neck and the wire still attached
