So today I walking the river again looking for anything that might have washed out. I found alot of shards but managed one keeper. It looks to be a stoneware conical ink. I was psyched to find it sitting there among the rocks. Does anyone know what the approximate age of this ink is? I have never seen one like it before. Thank you for the help and thanks for looking. - Justin

Good eye Justin. That's a sweet ink. Not sure on the age, but it is a keeper for sure.

This is a hard one to narrow down I see a couple on the internet that are claiming there 1860s. But stoneware is something I don't know about. Here it is all cleaned up.

I take it there's a hole in the top end?

Sorry, without reading what it was, my mind was racing to try and figure something out. An ink well wasn't where my mind was heading! :tongue3:

Found this on this site.
Historic Bottle Website - Homepage

Normally I would not be bothered but I love old pottery and this really take the cake man. This has to be the coolest looking one I have ever seen.

The site seems to be sort of long winded, I assume it is vast information, but it is the second link that shows yours or what I think looks like yours. I just thought you should have it because I think this is a banner find, it just needs to be IDed now.

I hope it helps you out.
