Another warm day lunch hour diggin. With my arm and shoulder hurting from a skunked weekend hunt I had to have one more try at a spot I've been digging for a while. At the end of the hour I finally got a nice 12 45 at 6 inches on the CTX. Up popped a crusty classic head. Couldn't wait to get home and zap it. Here are the before and after. Thanks for looking

If not for the surface pitting that might pass as a non dug coin. Nice job.

That's the only down side to electroysis. It works so well it removes the crud from the pits. Were olive oil leaves the pitted crud but does not bring out the fine details.

Classic Head large and half cents are rare detecting finds- pretty limited run on the large (6 years ) and low mintages (100's of thousands)
not millions for most of the dates in both denominations . Nice Find !

I had a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch and found a dead mouse on my porch from one of the cats. I believe you have me beat today. Great job!

I wouldn't "classify" that Classic Head as crusty. She looks pretty good even before electrolysis..

Agreed. Others on this forum have observed that dug Classic heads just don't seem to hold up as well as the other LC series. The OP has found a great coin for sure.
