I want to use my Safari at the beach but I am curious are there certain things I should change from the standard default settings? How does the Safari handle black sand? Any help would be appreciated.
I've used mine on the dry and wet sand here in fl beaches and it's worked just fine. never taken it in the water afraid to wet the housing

Same settings for me too and it worked fine. Actually hunted in ankle deep water until I almost dropped in in a small wave which would have led to much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Only had it on SC and FLA beaches- no black sand.
I think that you'll find it isn't as aggravating to hunt a more open pattern on most beaches- not as much trash.

Hunt it, but keep it dry at all costs, and clean gently with fresh water after every use.

If you hit really bad black sand, re-ground balance every 15-feet or so, and slow down!

Safari is just a dumbed down ETrac and will work in wet salt sand with little to no issues...

Don't say 'dumbed down'; just say 'slower processing'. My Safari has very sensitive feelings.

Run it with a wide open screen and as high a sensitivity setting you can without falsing.

i used mine last weekend in new jersey beaches and it worked great. I was wondering its performance too on beaches...until last weekend...when I found out it's the same monster as it is when its on land. I love my Safari. I wouldn't ever trade it in. So much fun to learn on, too.
