My two year monetary total from detecting.
Totals for 2013 Mar. thru Dec. 421 hrs. $717.72 = $1.70 per hr.
Totals for 2014 Jan. thru Dec. 117 hrs. $501.33 = $4.28 per hr.
Two year total $1219.05 538 hrs. $2.26 per hr.

After taking about a twenty year break in detecting, I started back in March of 2013.
The only other time that I had kept an accurate record was for six months in 1976 and I had averaged just over $10 per hour back then. Which at the time was good money, actually, more per hour than I was making working for wages back then. Of course I was a lot younger and moved much faster than I do now. However, the finds were more abundant and silver was plentiful. Had silver brought the price it does now, my total would have been in the $25.00 per hour range.
In 1977 I was using an A.H. Electronics Super Pro II body mount detector. The majority of finds for 2013 and 2014 were produced with a Garrett AT Pro.
The main thing now is doing the research and finding an area to get your coil over the good targets. Most finds for 2013 and 2014 were from the same sites that I worked heavily in the seventies.
I contribute the better success of 2014 over 2013 to learning the nuances of the AT Pro.
Good Luck & HH

Where do you find it all? Parks?

Mostly parks and schools. In the seventies they were building a throughway through town and as the state bought the property and tore down the houses that was the best hunting I ever experienced.

That's an impressive set of numbers, jeweler21. I have had off years and some good ones. A diamond ring find worth $1400 can make a so so year a really good year. We keep plugging along in hopes of the years "big one". I hope you have one soon. This year only two gold rings total and clad. You did better than me in 2014. Now, let's get ready for 2015.:icon_thumleft:

i know what you mean about detecting back in the '70's. When I started in 1970, I made much more detecting than I did at my "job". That being said, I had may best year detecting here in 2014. The combination of more hunting time, better equipment, and better/luckier finds. It sure was fun back in the early days though when half your finds were 90% silver and wheats.

As you can see you did better than I this year. Congrats! But I don't think I have done too badly for my first year and learning 3 detectors. (So far):laughing7:
