Need help grading a rare canadian found today

Hey all,

I just posted todays find but upon further research I found this canadian fifty today and only 150,000 of these were made. Its 80% silver and rare and im wondering what you all think the grade might be of it. Heres so pics Thanks!

Searching eBay's completed listings, I'm not sure that it will sell for a lot more than melt:

A coin about in your condition:
1956 Silver Canadian Half Dollar - Elizabeth II | eBay

A BU example:
Canadian 1956 Queen Elizabeth II Silver Half Dollar 50 cent coin | eBay

Of course, it could just be bad marketing on the part of the eBay users.

In grading it, I'd say it would be in fine condition if using the grading for British coins (since the obverses are the same). I'd imagine it would be about the same for the Canadian coins.

where is a good place to learn to grade coins or look and compare? Is ebay really a good place to grade and compare coins? I am new to this so i am still learning :laughing7:

Let me tell you that is by no means a rare coin. Although yes the mintage may be significantly smaller, 1956 is still a common date for 50 cent pieces. Based on the condition of your coin I would say it is worth it's weight in silver.
