I really need some thoughts/opinions on which detector makes the better unit for deep coin hunting, since that's primarily what I do, with some fresh water beach hunting tossed in, I don't go in the water for odd personal reasons, so that is not relevant.

Last year I got my explorer 2 and well I've never had a unit with a meter and well its really confusing me when all my life I depended on just learning sounds.

I need to know which is the better unit for my needs of hitting the 10" coins.
Either my explorer II or a Sovereign GT, from what I've read on the Sovereign the thing is a beast on par with say a blisstool on depth, but alas what you read online could be biased, and I really need to know if the sovereign will meet my needs better.

If anybody can help with this I would really appreciate your input.

If you can find a GT get it!!!! It is really a deep detector and many say it is the King of the saltwater sand, myself included. It is slightly better than the Excal because of the other features the Excal doesn't have. If there is a lot of salt spray, just place a plastic baggie over the controls but leave it open at the bottom so condensation doesn't build up.

If you're only concerned about depth, it's hard to beat a GPX5000 but be prepared to dig a lot of junk!
