I recently found this 1980-D half dollar while coin roll hunting and noticed the edges were "not right". Can anyone tell me if this is a mint error, and if so, what type? Thank, Rudy

Thank you very much.We see this all the time at salt water beaches and other areas with acidic soils. The outer copper-nickel alloy holds up better than the pure copper in the center of the coin.
