No I did not clean it first and stick it back in the dirt. What you see is the way it happened. It was 4.5 inches deep.

found it in an open field where a house once stood in the 1800's

I saw that when you first found it. They are scarce around here, in 10 years i have only seen
one come up, my buddy Jim Weaver found it with his xlt.

i think that is a 3 cent silver, pretty rare, my father in law found a few a couple of years ago around and old house seat. Nice find!!!
