Pestles are typically more long and cylindrical and display signs of use wear. Your piece is shaped more like a hammer stone although they exhibit battering / use wear too. I can't see any signs of wear in the pics of yours.

I agree...no wear besides being smooth thats why I thought pestle. It is broken though, hard to tell how long it would have been.
