prehistoric snail

i found this by luck. i could see the green gemstone in the ground barely sticking out. it is about 5 inches round and 2 and a half inches wide. don,t know what kind of gemstone it is , it,s green and dark blue at one end.some say it was around before the dinosaur.has any gem expert seen this before?

Iv'e been rock/fossil collecting ever since was a young kid but have yet to ever find anything like that. Unless you have a small hand that is a decent sized item. Seems like a very unusual find to me.

This is a marine snail; maclurites magmus , which lived 450-500million years ago; according a professor from a tn. University.

I would suggest the stone is some sort of silica...you know...agate, chalcedony...along those lines.
