Radio Shack Discovery 3000 help.

Radio Shack Discovery 3000. I have been using it in parks and yards over the last 5 years to some degree of success. Recently I have had some difficulty pin-pointing the target. Does anyone have suggestions or info? Thanks in advance for your help.
